Maxine's mother left Maxine's father when Maxine was 8 months old. When Max was 11, she helped out at a local television station and gained an interest in television
production.
When Maxine was 14, she and her cousin Kevin were abducted by an unknown person or persons and were missing for a week. Max managed to escape, but was so traumatized she blocked the ordeal from her mind. Kevin was never found, and the authorities assumed she and Kevin had been kidnapped.
On her 15th birthday, Maxine's megapowers began to manifest. She kept her powers a secret, and entered college as a marketing and communications major. After graduating at the top of her class, she was hired by a small Chicago television station. She started a cable-access show on TV22 about megaheroes, which received great ratings.
When the owner of the station died, he willed the station to Maxine, who renamed it WMAX. The station became a super-station when it was picked up by major cable services, and Maxine became a field reporter, as well as the manager and owner, to cover events dealing with megaheroes around the globe. |
